The Del Azahar route.
This route takes you round the Mediterranean coast of Valencia, between the orange groves with their aromatic blossom.

We begin our itinerary in Sagunto, an Iberican, Roman, Arabic and Christian town. Here we can enjoy the rich array of culture, the castle and surrounding walls, the Roman theatre, the remains of a Roman amphitheatre, the Temple of Diana, the 12th century Gothic church Del Salvador, the 14th century Gothic Santa Maria church, which was built on an ancient mosque as well as numerous impressive large houses. This is a vibrant town, which has many bars, restaurants and shops for you to enjoy. There are many extensive and beautiful beaches here such as the Canet or the Corinto. Taking the N-221 we arrive in Puig, where we visit the 13th century royal monastery of La Virgen del Puig, which has the Museo de la Imprenta y Obra Gráfica inside ( museum of printing and graphics ). The most popular beach here is the Play Puig.

Continuing on the same road we arrive at Valencia, the capital of the Comunidad Valenciana, the 3rd most populated city in Spain, after Madrid and Barcelona, which offers many sites ranging from the remains of the Roman forum to the most innovative buildings such as the emblematic Ciudad de las Artes y de los Ciencas ( City of art and sciences ). The most important monuments here are , the royal basilica - Nuestra Señora de los Desa, Parados, situated in the oldest part of the city, the Torres de Serranos, declared a monument of historic and artistic value, the Baroque bell tower of Miguelete, El Palau de la Generalitat - the Gothic palace where the council and autonomous government meet, the Silk or Commodities exchange - declared Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, the palace of Marqués de dos Aguas, the headquarters of the National Museum of González Martí Ceramics, the cathedral better known as La Seu, as well as many examples of a wide range of artistic styles, such as the Torres de Quart where you'll find a monument in honour of El Palleter, who challenged the troupes of Napoleon, the Valencia institute of modern art and the museum of beautiful art. Taking the road on to the locality of Sueca, we take a stop in Albufera's nature park, one of the most important wetlands area in the Mediterranean, which has numerous species of flora and fauna. Sueca is known as the capital of rice.

Consisting of an important tourism area, there are many businesses and establishments. There are also monuments such as the Neoclassic San Pedro Apóstol church, the neoclassic town hall building, the modern Ateneo and the Sales church.

Taking the N-332 we continue on to Cullera, a locality situated in the Sierra de las Zorras, which is popular with the tourist and has numerous bars, restaurants and shops to enjoy. We can see the castle and its fortress, the Torre de la Reina and the Los Santos Juanes church.

We take a detour on the CV-50 to Tabernas de Valldigna, which is also a popular tourist area due to its lovely beaches, which have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag and the numerous establishments here.

We rejoin the N-332 to arrive in Gandía, a ducal city and capital of the region. Here there are many monuments to enjoy such as the Duchan renaissance palace, the neoclassic town hall building, the Gothic Collegiate, the 15th century hospital of San Marcos, the Santa Clara and Santa Ana hermitages as well as the archaeological museum. Here there is an extensive beach and an important fishing port. We finish our journey detouring on the N-340 to Xátiva, penalised by King Felipe V. the most important monuments here are the Mayor and Menor castles, the renaissance Collegiate, the Gothic Levantine San Felix hermitage, the 15th - 16th century royal hospital as well as numerous palaces, convents and large houses.
