|
One of the most famous traditions preserved here is the Crema deth Haro en Les, a magnificent cultural fire festival worth seeing. There are various reserves in this area suitable for hunting and fishing, though permits need to be obtained via the Sociedad de Cazadores y Pescadores or the El Servei Territorial del Medi Natural de Lleida.
Comenzamos nuestro itinerario en Baqueira Beret, la estación invernal que ofrecen numerosas pistas, remontes y servicios varios. Anualmente, cada mes de enero, se celebra el campeonato de esquí de fondo “la marcha a Beret”. We begin our interesting journey in Baqueira Beret, the winter resort which has numerous ski slopes, climbing routes and various other services on offer. Every January they celebrate the "La Marcha a Beret" cross country skiing competition here. Taking the C-142 we arrive at Salardú, in el Naut Aran, where we find an ancient Roman church where they worship the Crist de Salardú. On the outskirts of town you'll find the ski resort of Tuca Malh Blanc, which offers a wide range of sports and activities to enjoy including climbing, potholing, horse riding and mountain biking. Continuing on the same road in the direction of Vielha, we take a stop at both Arties and Garòs. Arties has numerous interesting stately homes, one of the most prominent being the Parador de Turismo de Viella. In Garòs we stop and enjoy the marvellous Roman church, then carry on to Vielha. Situated in the heart of the region, Vielha offers an extensive wealth of culture which includes numerous stately homes from the 16th - 17th century, the la Tor deth Generau Martinón, which has the lovely ethnic museum of Dera Val D'Aran, also the Gothic Roman parish church of Sant Miquèu which houses the impressive Crist de Mijaran, as well as the Roman Gothic churches of Escunhau, Betren, Gausac, Casau, Vilac, Betlan, Aubert, Montcorbau, Arrós and Vila, not forgetting the picturesque Parador de Turismo on the outskirts of town. On the N-230 now we head to Bossòt, which has the most spectacular Roman church in this region. We finish our journey on the same road, arriving in the locality of Les, best known for its Spas and thermal spring waters, renowned for their therapeutic and medicinal properties. Other areas known for their thermal springs include Bausen and Canejan. |
