Route through the Sierra de Alcaraz mountain range
You'll find the impressive Sierra de Alcaraz in the south of the Albacete province, with numerous magnificent mountains of outstanding beauty to admire.

We begin our journey in El Masegoso, where we visit the developed area with its wealth of popular architecture and the lovely Las Lagunas de el Arquillo lakes, an ideal place to enjoy the extensive variety of flora and fauna as well as the numerous bird species here.

We take the road onto Robledo, the place where we can visit the Ermita de Villagorbo and the two observatories of Las Lagunas del Arquillo and Los Ojos de Villaverde. There is also an educational facility which is there to explain the advantages of water as an energy source, medical resource and its therapeutic
value etc.


From Robledo we continue on to Ballestero where we find the San Lorenzo church and the archaeological ruins of the Camino de Anibal (Hannibal's walk).

Arriving in Viveros we find the San Bartolomé church, the Ermita de Pinilla, the salt works at Pinilla, the recreational area of Fuentes del Guadiana and the educational facility which teaches the importance of salt through the ages. We continue on to Alcaraz, with artistic and historical elements from many different eras including the Medieval, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neo - Classic periods. All these styles can be seen in numerous examples such as the Gothic Renaissance church museum Conjunto de la Santisima Trinidad, the San Miguel church, the medieval aqueduct, the Alcaraz castle, the monasteries of San Francisco and Santa Maria Magdalena, the Nuestra Señora de las Cortes sanctuary, the towns history museum and the Los Galiano house. The town is dominated by the impressive Tardón renaissance tower, the village clock and the Trinidad.

We rejoin the road until we arrive at the sanctuary of Virgen de Cortes, where 1000's of pilgrims congregate during the romeria. We end our journey in Povedilla, famous for making one of the best oils in Spain.
